biography

The members of Lemur Voice started off as Aura back in 1993.  Shortly
thereafter, the band changed their name to Lemur Voice.  Lemur Voice
consisted of five members who, together, create a musical landscape much
greater than the sum their parts.

The musicians that made up Lemur Voice perfectly created compositions
that are able to rip through any internal boundry. . .and yet the songs
(as well as the 5 musicians) are hard to describe. The influences of
the individual members are very diverse, they all have their own style
and interest that goes from classical music to Dream Theater, Sting,
Jamiroquai and Satriani to name but a few. Guitarist Marcel Coenen, who
also plays in a Joe Satriani cover band and some metal orientated bands,
knows how to get the best out of every guitar, he even won the dutch guitar
contests as best rock player in 1998.  The playing of Barend Tromp as he
plays bass and the Chapman Stick is a most unique sound yet easily
recognizable sound. Gregoor's voice tends to go in a direction that Sting
reigns, yet Gregoor has a very unique delivery that is all his own.  Add
that to Nathan's precision like and mathematical yet groovy construction
of the drums and Franck's virtuosity of the keyboards show that Lemur
Voice was able to make music at the highest level.

As U can see on the intro page the band decided to split up, because they
could not use their creativity anymore in this band, the musicians in the
band all have different interests and are currently working on new bands.

Their debut CD, Insights, was produced by Oscar Holleman (Vengeance)
and was released in America, Japan and Europe on Magna Carta
Records
.  The band was the first ever non-American act to be released
on Magna Carta.  The success of Insights in Europe led to the signing
of the band to Telstar Records in 1998. Together with producer Ron
Lieberton (ex-Zinatra), Divided was recorded in Telstar own studio. The
atmosphere that Telstar created was so relaxing that the band also
choose to do a cover of an unusual song.  The song they covered was
Michael Jackson's Beat It, but done in typical Lemur Voice style. To
add to the mystique of the song, Rob Bruynen (Quincy Jones) was
brought in on Trumpet to give the song the right feel.

Lemur Voice had built up an excellent reputation as a live act during
their seven-year-existence. This reputation has led to invitations to
play on festivals with such giants as Iron Maiden and Joe Satriani.
The band has also been asked to support well-known rockers like Dio
and Yngwie Malmsteen.  They also did some shows headlining throughout
the Netherlands and the surrounding region.

Guest Musicians on the Divided album:

Rob Bruynen - Trumpet (on Beat It)
Dewy Kersten - Cello (on Divided)
Nick Hameury - Grunt-Vocals (on Parvedian Trust)
Patrick Zelissen - Saxophone (on Divided)
