Written by: Marcel Coenen Day One, March 15th This was the kickoff, 11o clock we arrived, except for myself, I was there about one o clock, the starting of the day was to place the drumkit in the studio room with all the microphones set up. so when this was done the producer "Ron Lieberton" started to make a drumsound which he did quite fast !!!! Anyway when I arrived at one O clock the whole sound was ready !! So we could start doing the basictracks, this means that we just record with the whole band, the whole band records directly into the mixer, this is done to avoid other sounds to get caught by the drum microphones. so we started this day recording the songs All Of Me, New Yanini, Parvedian Trust, Solilocide and When The Cradle Cries. These five were finished this day for the drums. Day Two, March 16th This day we worked further on the drums, Beat It, Childhood Facade, Lethe's Bowl and Universal Roots were recorded this day. I also started out doing some rhythm guitartracks this day and played also three songs completely: All Of Me, Parvedian Trust and Solilocide. Day Three, March 17th This was my day actually, I did go further with some rhythm tracks, I recorded Lethe's Bowl and When The Cradle Cries, also Barend started out with some chapman stick parts for the songs Solilocide, When The Cradle Cries and New Yanini. Day Four, March 18th This day we finished the drumparts, we did record Beat It again, we ended up with a better version, and we recorded the song Divided, after that I did finish the rhythm guitarparts for the rest of the songs and I also did some "space guitar" parts. Day Five, March 19th Here I started with all the clean guitarparts, I used a Fender Rock Pro amplifier and a VOX AC-30 in combination for the clean sound which sounds killer !!!! I also finished the space guitar parts and I already recorded one leadsolo for the song Lethe's Bowl !! Day Six, March 21th This day I finished all lead guitarsolo's, and I did some acoustic guitar for All Of Me and Childhood Facade, I also used a Yamaha acoustic guitar for this which I lent from Joop Wolters. Barend also recorded some more songs (he did Childhood Facade, Parvedian Trust, All Of Me and Beat It), the lead guitarsolo from Beat It I had to figure out at this same day !! So I took a headphone, went into the small studio and played it over and over and figured it out and finally I made my own version of it, which has some similarities to the original EVH solo but I placed some different things in it and played it in my own style.
Week two in the studio Written by Franck Faber Tuesday, april 6th On thuesday april 6th, after a studio-break of a
week and a half, we continued with the basic sounds of the keyboards and grand piano. On wednesday april 7th I continued with the song
"Childhood Façade", a song written shortly after the release of
"Insights" in 1996. In this song I also use a Yamaha grand piano on some parts
to create a live feel and a accoustic feel. Thursday, april 8th Thursday april 8th I first recorded the song
"Lethes Bowl", this song is the first song written after the Insights album. In
this song I used the Gem S3 syntheziser for the strings and the Korg for the space-sounds.
In the next days to come we are going to finish the songs with a lot of samples, space sounds and special effects (featuring Gregoor "the analog kid" van der Loo with his two-thousand analog synths) Friday april 9th we will continue with
vocals..........see you! |
